5 Ways To Bring More Traffic To Your Shopify Store in 2024

When I first started out in the e-commerce world, it was daunting to learn that out of a 100 visitors to a store, just 1-2 people will make a purchase.

Yes, some conversion rates are higher, but even at 10%, you would still need to get 100 people to visit your store just to make 10 purchases.

This underlines why it is so important to keep driving traffic to your online store. Without traffic, your store won't generate sales or revenue, no matter how great your products or customer service might be.

I'm going to outline some ways to increase traffic to your Shopify store, and I will split them into free and paid options.

Free Ways to Get Traffic To Your Store

Free traffic is a relative term. This is because even free options need a time and money investment. Here are some examples:

  1. SEO - Optimize your website for search engines:
  • With Search Engine Optimization you can optimize your website and its content to increase its visibility and ranking on search engine results pages, attract more organic traffic, and ultimately drive more sales and revenue.
  • Conduct keyword research to identify relevant keywords for your products and incorporate them into your website content, meta titles, descriptions, and URLs. Need SEO research tools? Try Ahrefs or SEMRush.
  • Create high-quality and relevant content such as blog posts and product descriptions that contain the relevant keywords. Your blog posts should have helpful content around the products you sell and your process.
  1. Social media:
  • Create social media accounts for your business and use them to share product updates, promotions, and other relevant information with your audience.
  • Use social media platforms to run targeted ads and promotions to drive traffic to your store.
  • Engage with your audience by responding to comments and messages, and running social media contests to increase engagement.

Paid Ways to Get Traffic To Your Store

  1. Paid advertising:
  • Use Google AdWords or other PPC platforms to place targeted ads that appear at the top of search engine results pages for relevant keywords.
  • Consider social media advertising on platforms such as Facebook and Instagram to reach a wider audience and drive traffic to your store.
  • Use retargeting ads to target people who have already shown interest in your products.
  1. Discounts and promotions:
  • Run sales and promotions to encourage people to visit your store and make a purchase.
  • Use discount codes and other incentives to encourage customers to share your products on social media and refer their friends.
  1. Collaborate with influencers and other brands:
  • Reach out to influencers who have a following that aligns with your target audience and offer them free products in exchange for promotion on their social media channels.
  • Collaborate with other brands or bloggers in your niche to cross-promote products and increase your exposure to their audiences.
  • Participate in events such as pop-up shops and trade shows to network with other businesses and potential customers.

I hope these tips have helped you to find some new ways to increase traffic to your e-commerce store.
